Head Nurse Tanis regarded the caged creature with a look of abject disgust. "What did you put on it's back?"

Dr. Lockwood didn't look up from the monstrous corpse she was dissecting. "That depends on the chimp."

Tanis started to lean closer to the cage to inspect the thing inside but stopped when she noticed the way the creature was glaring at her. In her mind, it had long ago ceased to be a chimp or any other creature that a sane mind could imagine. "Subject A-3."

"A-3..." Lockwood cast a glance behind her toward the creature's cage. "Ahh, Mr. Chippers. I implanted him with a modified Tesla coil."

The deformed ape barred its fang-like teeth at Tanis, and she took an involuntary step back from the cage. "Dare I ask why, doctor?"

"Why?" Lockwood stared at her in confusion. "Because I wanted to see if I could."

Hey everyone!

Here we are a week into the Kickstarter campaign, and we're really excited about how well things have gone so far.  We just need a bit more of a push to send us over the edge!

We just got in some new art from the very talented David Romero, and we wanted to share it with you for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

As a bit of a bonus, here's a look at this lovely fellow's card. The Escaped Experiment is one of the cheaper Monster cards in the game, but because of its damage-boosting effect, it can become a real nuisance if you have more pressing threats to deal with.

Shipping Update!
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 13, 2017 at 10:49:17 AM

Hey everyone!

We're chugging along at a great pace! Every time that "percent funded" number ticks upward, it inspires a whole new wave of gratitude for everyone who believes in this project. Thank you all!

Not everything can be all sunshine and kittens, though. A number of you have pointed out that our shipping prices were a bit high, and yup, we really can't disagree. We're still looking into ways to reduce our shipping costs, but in the meantime, we've poked at some numbers and decided to just eat some of the international shipping costs ourselves.

As a result, we're dropping our EU/UK shipping costs down to $17 and our worldwide shipping down to $20. Hopefully this will somewhat ease the shipping burden for our international friends.

We'll keep you updated if we're able to knock it down any further!

Halfway there in 24 hours!

Here we are, one day into the campaign with half of our funding goal met! Wow!

We're really humbled by all the support that we've received so far. Thank you so much!

We're looking into how to reduce shipping costs for our international friends, and we'll keep you updated on that once we have more news. In the meantime, please share the campaign page, spread the word on social media, and tell your friends about our game. We're still a small company, so that sort of word of mouth publicity will go a long ways toward helping us reach our goal.

Stretch Goal #1
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 13, 2017 at 10:48:55 AM

We've reached our first Stretch Goal!

The Awakened Hunter and the Keeper of Lies will be added to every copy of the base game, so the Lakeshore Asylum just became a whole lot more dangerous.

Let's take a look at these two Horrors and how they change the game when they show up.

There are a number of cards in Lockwood's Asylum that allow players to place Ally cards in their hand into the Room. These cards not only allow players to easily get Allies into their Rooms but also encourage a strategy that utilizes Ally cards that provide a bonus when they enter the player's Room.

When the Awakened Hunter is stalking the Asylum, though, this strategy becomes more dangerous. Players that built a strategy around putting Allies in their hand into the Room will find themselves having to either adjust their strategy or suffer death by a thousand paper cuts.

Worse yet, the Awakened Hunter is very formidable in combat. The player might be able to defeat the Horror, but then it's just discarded and will no doubt recover to harass them on future turns. On the other hand, if the player doesn't kill the Awakened Hunter, they can throw a few of their fingers (or other body parts) into the hall to distract the giant spider... which puts it right back to roaming the halls of the asylum, where it's less of a direct threat.

Sometimes, it's to a player's benefit to let a Horror live!

The Keeper of Lies, meanwhile, is a much more insidious threat. Its very presence in the asylum is corrupting, as it subtly increases the chances that the Monsters and Horrors in a player's deck will be lured into their Room to cause havoc.

Worse yet, if a player ends up having the Keeper of Lies sent to their Room, every other player in the game gets to draw two cards. They might draw more Monsters, sure... but even if they do, they'll still end up with seven cards in their hand on their turn instead of five, which usually means a sharp increase in their purchasing options.

Oh, and if you can't kill the Keeper of Lies when it shows up? Your opponents get to dump their worst cards right into your discard pile. Ouch.

The Awakened Hunter and the Keeper of Lies both function in wildly different ways, but their presence in the asylum is sure to cause chaos for those who aren't prepared for their arrival.

Gameplay Video Update: We spent the weekend working on a gameplay video to share with everyone, but unfortunately, one of the cameras decided not to cooperate. We're working on a different alternative, but it will be a bit later than expected as we get things set up, recorded, and edited. Sorry for the delay!
